Virginia Notice of Rent Increase
Give written notice before raising rent on a Virginia tenancy. Follow the lease and Virginia notice rules. Local rent-control rules can cap the amount even when the notice period is met.
- A month-to-month tenancy generally takes 30 days’ written notice (Va. Code Ann. § 55.1-1253).
