A Connecticut month-to-month tenancy continues until someone ends it with proper notice. A month-to-month tenancy generally takes notice equal to one rental period. A notice to quit is a separate eviction step (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 47a-23). The usual security-deposit cap is 2× monthly rent.
